Description of Site: Brownsea Island, located in the entrance to Poole Harbour, is where Baden-Powell held his experimental camp which led to the start of Scouting in 1907. The Centre comprises an indoor self contained hostel style lodge, together with a 50 acre campsite, serviced by the new Baden-Powell Centre opened in 2007. Visited each year by thousands of young people from around the world, groups can enjoy a full programme of activities or just enjoy the tranquil surrounding. |
